Celebrity model Gigi Hadid has joined the list of famous people who have quit Twitter since internet tycoon Elon Musk finalized his $44 billion purchase of the social media platform last week. Celebrities who have left include Sara Bareilles, Toni Braxton, and Shonda Rhimes.

The 27-year-old supermodel said on Saturday that she had “deactivated” her Twitter account due to “its new leadership” to her 76.2 Instagram followers. She commented on her Instagram Story that the platform was “becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry,” which was not a place she wanted to be a part of.
Twitter is no longer a secure environment for everyone, nor a platform that will do more good than harm, she claimed.

Since taking control, Musk has made a number of choices that have infuriated a number of people on the social media platform.
The blue tick, which serves as a user verification symbol on Twitter, will now cost $8 per month thanks to the Tesla creator.

On Friday, Twitter Inc. announced the termination of half of its personnel, adding that the team in charge of halting the spread of false information had suffered fewer reductions. Along with Sara Bareilles, Toni Braxton, and Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes, Gigi follows Ken Olin, Brian Koppelman, Alex Winter, Erik Larsen, Téa Leoni, Marina Sirtis, Rob Reiner, and Jameela Jamil, who have reportedly left the social media site. Authors and activists such as Shaun King and Amy Siskind have also threatened to boycott the platform.

The former girlfriend of British musician Zayn Malik, Gigi, expressed sympathy for her followers, with whom she enjoyed maintaining contact on Twitter for almost ten years. The star said that she could no longer claim that the platform was a safe place for anyone, or that it was a platform that would do more good than harm.

The star reposted MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin’s piece about Shannon Raj Singh, a former Twitter human rights attorney, who tweeted that Friday was her last day there since the company’s whole human rights team had been disconnected

After analytics company Bot Sentinel discovered that Twitter may have lost over a million members since Musk purchased the digital company for $44 billion, the celebrity television personality reportedly made her decision. This suggests that some users may have been suspended by the company, while others may have deactivated their accounts in protest. The Vogue cover girl had over 10,536,819 followers before she left the microblogging platform.
