Hillsborough County Jail

A new jury brings back the 2010 Ruskin ice cream man murder case who was accused of shooting six people. According to the state of Florida, Michael Keetley, who had been robbed and shot while driving his ice cream truck, was so determined to exact revenge that, on Thanksgiving morning 2010, he pretended to be a police officer, carried a gun to a neighborhood in Ruskin, and shot six innocent men, killing two of them. Since the jury could not reach a consensus, the murder case’s prior trial terminated without a verdict.

According to Keetley’s defense, he is a victim of circumstance, a guy whose physical limitations prevented him from engaging in such violence, and a man who was unfairly charged because of a patchwork of shaky evidence and hazy memories.

Keetley entered a not guilty plea in January 2011 to two charges of first-degree murder and four charges of first-degree attempted murder.

The story has been retold numerous times in Tampa’s courtroom. It was reiterated on Monday.

On Thanksgiving Day in 2010, Keetley is charged with shooting and killing Juan and Sergio Guitron and injuring four other people in Ruskin. The state informed the jury of the motive for the murder during opening comments. In the early morning hours of November 25, 2010, the defendant was obsessed with getting retribution, according to Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Johnson.

While Keetley was driving his ice cream truck during a prior robbery, he was shot multiple times.

His motivation, according to the prosecution, was retaliation for being shot during a $12 robbery at his ice cream truck. Authorities claimed that his motivation was retaliation for being shot in January 2010 during a robbery of $12 from his ice cream truck. Authorities say his shooting on the Porch of a Ruskin home targeted the wrong people.

According to Keetley’s defense counsel Lyann Goudie, he was shot too many times for him to have been the assailant.
