Adele’s new single easily soars to the top: Easy On Me also breaks streaming and other UK records

Although Adele might have been away for about six years her music remains high up on the charts. She released her single Easy On Me on midnight on Friday, October 15 and its smashed through records in the U.K. as well as around the world. It reached the number one spot on Friday, after its overnight debut.

As Adele has mentioned before, the album is a reflection on her feelings and more after her divorce with her husband Simon Konecki. She had said that the superb ballad Easy On Me was written for her son Angelo. She was trying to explain the divorce of his parents to him, through a song. Critics and fans have praised the powerful single for its brutal honesty.

Earlier Ariana Grande was the singer whose song had been streamed 16.9 million times. The pop singer had topped the streaming numbers for her song 7 Rings released in January 2019.

The song has also hit the airwaves as it was heard by 100 million listeners in one week on UK radio. It became the first to cross the 100 million mark this year.
