On Wednesday, President Joe Biden held a press conference and spoke to reporters in the East Wing of the White House. The president believed that his administration “outperformed” expectations, despite several crises faced this past year. He admitted that the pandemic was still a challenge. He said that the Democrats could pass “big chunks” of his domestic policy bill that was stuck in the Senate as two of his own Democrats Sen. Joe Manchin and Sen. Krysten Sinema were reportedly unwilling to vote for it, in its present state, in an evenly balanced Senate.

Biden outlined the administration’s earlier success including the coronavirus relief bills as well as the bipartisan infrastructure law that will improve public services in every state of the nation. He said that it had been a “year of challenges” as well as a “year of enormous progress.”

He struck a realistic note when he spoke of the ongoing challenges that were ahead due to the contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus. He also acknowledged that there was rising inflation and that his agenda was unfulfilled despite his majority in the Congress.

However, he struck an optimistic note when he said that he called the pandemic “a job not yet finished.” He said that it would “get better.”

When asked if Vice President Kamala Harris would be his running mate for the 2024 presidential elections, he answered a simple “Yes.”

He said that he would travel to states and districts to promote his vision and agenda. He wants to highlight his administration’s accomplishments and to try and correct a “communications failure” as he was crestfallen that he had been unable to “do the things I’ve often been able to do well–connect with people.”

He also criticized the Republicans for their deference to Donald Trump and wondered how “one man out of office could intimidate an entire party?” He also criticized the deal made by the previous administration in Afghanistan by the Trump administration to leave early and un prepare that resulted in tragic consequences.

He also implied indirectly that FOX News has lost credibility due to lawsuits against top of their current host anchors who peddled election conspiracy and lies to the American people and know are trying to assassinate his administration performance.

He spoke on a host of issues including Russian aggression in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iran, the economy and more as he answered questions for a total of 114 minutes. When asked how he would win back the support of the Independents who supported him in 2020 but were disappointed by his leadership so far, he reiterated, “I don’t believe the polls.”
