Eight people were killed in a shooting, including a sheriff’s deputy, after an apparent domestic argument over children.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said the suspect is Willie Cory Godbolt, aged 35 of Bogue Chitto, which is an unincorporated town of about 500 people located about 68 miles south of Jackson, the capital. He was captured Sunday morning shortly before 7am at Super Jack’s at East Lincoln Road and Hwy. 84, Rushing said.

Deputy William Durr, 36, was killed in the first shooting at 11:30pm along with three females at a home in the 2800 block of Lee Drive in Bogue Chitto. Durr was a married father who had been a two-year veteran of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and a four-year veteran of the Brookhaven Police Department. Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) said their bodies were recovered at the scene.
