Celebrity comedian Chris Rock made several jokes about the Duchess of Sussex and celebrity Will Smith during his live comedy show on Saturday. The comedian took an aim at Meghan Markle for her alleged comments of racism against the royal family, especially in reference to the skin tone of her and Prince Harry’s now three-year-old son, Archie.
To an audience who seemed to love the topic, he particularly called out Meghan Markle’s alleged racism claims against the royal family and the audience of the Netflix show seemed to love it. He even spoke about Buckingham Palace and its legacy. Rock primarily referred to Meghan’s well-known comments from her appearance on a popular show with Prince Harry.

Meghan had reportedly mentioned in an interview that the royal family was worried about how ‘dark’ the complexion of her unborn child would be. Chris joked that the remark was not racist. He also referred to Meghan’s skin tone.
On a popular show, Meghan Markle said that she was unaware of how racist the royal family was. Citing this, Rock joked about this as well. The comedian also jested that women of color find it tough to be accepted by “white in-laws.”
In Meghan’s 2021 interview, she reportedly stated that there were “concerns and discussions about how dark” her son Archie’s skin would be “when he’s born.” Prince Harry was reportedly asked if the incident was “essentially racist” in January while promoting his book Spare in an interview. He allegedly responded that he would not characterize the incident as such.

Rock also joked about Will Smith’s Oscars smack in other witticisms during his stand-up performance. He spoke more extensively about the Oscars towards the conclusion of the show, declaring that he is “not a victim, baby,” and would never cry on a show.

The celebrity comedian’s comments reportedly received a lot of laughter and appreciation. Even Janina Gavankar, Meghan’s friend, and star of The Vampire Diaries, who has been a vocal supporter of Markle’s opposition to the royal family, appeared to be laughing at Chris Rock’s jokes.
