Celebrity Chris Rock, the stand-up comedian, might finally have the last say about celebrity actor Will Smith’s Oscar’s slap after remaining silent for a year. Rock’s upcoming Netflix special is titled, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage.
The show is slated to go on air on March 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET and will be the streaming service’s first-ever live-stream transmission. Leslie Jones, Amy Schumer, and Jerry Seinfeld will perform with Chris Rock.

Since Will Smith beat him at the 2017 Oscars in front of their Hollywood peers and approximately fifteen million viewers in the United States, Rock has shied away from the gatherings where celebs usually go to vent.

At the 2022 Oscars, Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith during the show, which infuriated Will Smith, who walked to the stage and slapped the comedian. Smith has remained silent since the event from a year ago, but Rock has been on international tours and will soon begin streaming his Netflix comedy special on March 4. Soon after the event, Smith apologized to Rock in a statement about the slap.
According to a recent “Top Gun: Maverick”-inspired promo that parodied ABC’s hunt for an “unflappable and unslappable” host for the Oscars ceremony on March 12, the incident that rocked the Academy Awards last year is likely to be joke material again at that event.

Netflix’s show is the second of the celebrity comedian’s two Netflix comedy specials that he pledged to in 2016. The live special follows the streamer’s inaugural live comedy event from last spring. Best joke deliveries and audience responses are selected for typical stand-up specials by editing footage from several different performances. Joel Gallen, a veteran of televised concerts, comedy specials, and roasts will direct the show, while Rock performs before 13 cameras.
