Celebrity star Jason Momoa has apologized for posting photos taken at the Sistine Chapel, during his recent visit to Rome. He received a lot of criticism on social media after posting the photos. The actor was on a trip to Rome and visited the chapel with cast and crew as they were shooting Fast X, in Italy. He reportedly obliged guests by taking pictures. Photography is banned at the Sistine Chapel as the camera flash damages the artwork in its famous ceiling painted by Michelangelo, centuries ago.

The Aquaman was in Italy for shooting his role with Vin Diesel, in Fast X, the latest and reportedly the last film in Universal Pictures’ Fast and Furious franchise. Earlier in the week, Jason Momoa had posted pictures of his trip to Rome, the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel.

Social media users criticized the celebrity star for photographing the sacred space, which features Michelangelo’s iconic artwork on the ceiling of the famous chapel. On Saturday, Jason Momoa posted a video on Just Jared, where he spoke of his trip to Italy. He apologized for posting photos of the Sistine Chapel.

Jason Momoa detailed the incident. He said that he, along with the cast and crew, decided to visit the Sistine Chapel as they had time off from the shooting of the Fast and Furious franchise. Some guests at the Sistine chapel asked for photos with him, so he had obliged.

He said that he had been “very respectful” and had “asked for permission” and he thought that it would be ok. He added, “I would never want to do anything to disrespect someone’s culture, so if I did, I apologize. It wasn’t my intention.”

He also said that he definitely paid to have that private moment and had given a nice donation to the church. He concluded the apology saying “I love you–sorry if I offended you. My apologies.”

He also mentioned how much he enjoyed the trip to Italy. He also said that he was happy working for Universal and Vin and with the whole crew. He spoke of his time in Rome, Tuscany and other parts of Italy, where they had filmed Fast X.
