Celebrity actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s home was attacked by a man wielding a fish knife earlier this month. During a recent court hearing, it was revealed that a former chef from a Mayfair hotel caused damage to the home where he and his family resided. The incident took place while Cumberbatch, his wife Sophie Hunter, and their three young children were inside the property in north London, reports said.
The court was informed that the perpetrator, Jack Bissell, forcefully kicked open the iron gate of the front garden and shouted menacingly, expressing knowledge of their residence and expressing a hope for it to burn down. According to reports, Bissell proceeded to kick through the gate, uproot a plant from the garden, and throw it against a wall. He then spat at the intercom and attacked it with the fish knife.
Bissell, a former hotel chef, pleaded guilty to the charge of criminal damage and was subsequently fined the equivalent of $310 by the judge. Additionally, a three-year restraining order was imposed, prohibiting Bissell from approaching the family or their living area.

According to reports, Bissell had purchased two packs of pitta bread from a nearby shop prior to the incident and had reportedly informed the shopkeeper of his intention to break into and set fire to the actor’s house. Bissell did not provide any defense for his actions during the court proceedings.
Bissell has a history of arrests and convictions, including a 2015 arrest during a protest against UK military involvement in Syria while wearing only his underwear. His previous record includes theft convictions as well as warnings for property offenses, public order violations, and drug offenses.

The motive behind the attack on the celebrity’s house remains unclear, and any connection between Bissell and Cumberbatch is unknown.
The celebrity actor, known for his roles in movies such as “Doctor Strange,” has been married to Sophie Hunter since 2015 and they have kept their children out of the public eye. Two films in which the actor will appear later this year are The Book of Clarence, which is expected to be released on September 22, and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which will likely be released sometime in the autumn.
