Recently, celebrity actor Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were charged with manslaughter by the authorities in New Mexico. Celebrity Mickey Rourke has come out in defense of his fellow actor, in a social media post, on Thursday. The one-time boxer described Halyna Hutchins death as a terrible tragedy but also said that it was not necessary to charge Alec Baldwin for the accidental death by shooting that occurred on the set of the western film, Rust, last October.

In a lengthy post, Mickey Rourke said that although cinematographer Halyna Hutchins death was a terrible tragedy, there was “no way in hell actor Alec Baldwin should be charged with any negligence whatsoever.”

In his lengthy post Rourke also noted that many actors did not know much about guns, if they had not been brought up around weapons. He also mentioned that the celebrity actor by name and said that “Alec didn’t bring the gun to the set from his house or his car.”

He remarked that handling guns was the sole responsibility of armorers and said, “No way in hell should Alec Baldwin be blamed for this unfortunate tragedy.”

He also questioned why the “powers to be” were charging Baldwin and described it as “terribly wrong.” He also added that he was sure that the celebrity actor had been suffering enough over the shooting incident and that it was “terribly, terribly wrong” to blame Alec Baldwin.

He ended his post by sending “deepest condolences to Halyna Hutchins, to her family and her friends.”

Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed releases statement

Earlier, Luke Nikas, the attorney for Alec Baldwin had called the charges “a terrible miscarriage of justice.” He added that the actor was unaware that there was “a live bullet in the gun” and had relied on the professionals with whom he had been working and who had assured him that there were no live rounds in the gun.

New Mexico prosecutors said that the actor “was a veteran of using guns on sets.” Special prosecutor Andrea Reeb also told NBC News that the set didn’t follow standard protocol and described Alec Baldwin’s behavior as “reckless” and more.
