CEO of Tesla, Musk’s friendship with Google co-founder Brin breaks due to alleged affair

CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk and co-founder of Google Sergey Brin have been friends for a longtime. However, a brief, alleged affair between Musk and Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan, in the fall of 2021 has not only lead to a falling out between friends but had also prompted the tech billionaire to file for divorce, according to a report. However, the reason for the divorce by both of them has been cited as “irreconcilable differences.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that people familiar with the matter informed the outlet about Musk’s alleged affair with Sergey Brin’s wife. Although Brin and his wife were separated when Musk had an affair with her, she was still living under the same roof of the man she had married.

The outlet also said that Sergey Brin filed for divorce, in January, weeks after he learnt about the affair between his friend and his wife, while the couple was facing problems. The affair reportedly began in December 2021 in Art Basel, a premier art show in Miami. According to court filings, both of them have cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce and there’s no mention of an alleged affair.

A source also told the outlet that Sergey Brin had giving instructions to his financial advisers to liquidate all his holdings and investments in the various businesses run or owned by Elon Musk.

Sergey Brin and Elon Musk have been friends from much more than a decade. In 2008, the Google co-founder helped Elon Musk as he was having problems with financing Tesla due to the financial crisis. The Google co-founder lent Musk $500,000 to prop up his company. Musk has also fondly mentioned staying over at Sergey’s home.

Elon Musk has been facing a lot of personal issues as he continues to face major business issues. He has faced disruptions in manufacturing vehicles at Tesla’s gigafactories. He has also been sued for reneging on an earlier proposal to buy Twitter at $44 billion. Twitter has filed a lawsuit against him for his withdrawal from the deal and the case is expected to go on trial, in August.

This latest personal scandal of allegedly sleeping with a friend’s wife, albeit separated comes at a time shortly after reports surfaced that his father Errol Musk, 76 had fathered a second child with his step daughter, 35. Recently, Errol Musk also said that he has been asked to donate his sperm for it to be used to birth more children, similar to the ones he has already fathered.
