David Peralta hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks pulled out a 5-3 victory Tuesday over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Five Arizona relievers combined to hold the Dodgers scoreless over the final five innings, with Ian Kennedy (1-1) getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning to earn the victory and Mark Melancon pitching a scoreless ninth inning for his third save.

Will Smith had an early three-run double for the Dodgers and Trea Turner had a hit with two walks to extend his on-base streak to 36 games going back to September of last season. The Dodgers are 3-2 on a six-game road trip that ends Wednesday.

The Diamondbacks got to Dodgers right-hander Brusdar Graterol (0-1) in the eighth inning. Cooper Hummell worked a four-pitch walk and Peralta hit a 1-1 home run to center field, his second of the season.

The Dodgers got off to a fast start for the second consecutive game in the series. With one out in the first inning, Freddie Freeman and Turner walked. Max Muncy hit a two-out single to load the bases and Smith drove in all three runners with a double to right-center field.

The Dodgers had a 2-0 lead after nine pitches in the series opener Monday.

The Diamondbacks caught a break to tie the game in the third inning. After Arizona’s Geraldo Perdomo singled and Jose Herrera walked, a wild pitch from Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin moved both runners into scoring position with nobody out.

Both of them scored when Daulton Varsho hit a routine ground ball to second base, but the Dodgers’ Gavin Lux threw the ball past Freeman at first base. Pavin Smith followed with an RBI single to tie the game 3-all.

Gonsolin gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits over four innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Arizona starter Zach Davis gave up three runs on four hits over four innings with four walks and three strikeouts.

Smith had a chance to give the Dodgers the lead in the eighth inning with one out and the bases loaded but he grounded into a double play against Kennedy.
