How has Macron’s French diplomacy helped avert World War 3 after Russia and Ukrainian visit?

On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Russia and had a one-to-one meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The visit proved to be successful. After the meeting Putin announced that Moscow would do its best to find compromises. This would avert a possible World War 3. It must be remembered that both World War 1 and World War 2 began in Europe. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was in America, on Monday, to speak with President Joe Biden.

France 24 reported that Putin said that as far as Moscow was concerned, they would do everything to find compromises that suited “everyone.” He also stated a well known fact that there would be “no winners” if war broke out in Europe.

The Russian leader also said that he didn’t think their dialogue was over and that Russia would send a response to NATO and Washington. He added that Ukrainian authorities must respect Western-brokered Minsk agreements on the separatist conflict in the country.

French President Macron said that in the course of Monday’s talks, he had proposed “concrete security guarantees” to Putin, after nearly five hours of talks at the Kremlin. Macron also said that President Putin had assured him of his willingness to engage. He added that he had a “desire to maintain stability” as well as to maintain the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

In a joint news conference, after the talks, Putin mentioned that several ideas on security from Macron were realistic.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, President Macron headed to Ukraine to advance a diplomatic initiative with Kyiv. Macron told journalists in Kyiv that he had obtained that there would be “no degradation nor escalation” from Moscow.

After the meeting with Macron, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was expecting to hold a summit with leaders from Russia, France, and Germany.

It is hoped that the summit will be be successful as the world doesn’t need another war that would destroy both lives and livelihoods of present and future generations.
