Kristi Goncalves, whose 21-year-old daughter Kaylee Goncalves was stabbed to death in her off-campus Moscow rental home on November 13th, appeared on the Today Show on Thursday and spoke of her family being “left in the dark” because her daughter’s killer is still at large.
It is nearly five weeks after Kaylee was killed with her three friends. Authorities have not yet named any suspect or found a motive or the murder weapon. They have also not produced a criminal profile of the prospective killer
Kristi claimed on Tuesday that authorities failed to notify her before requesting information about a white sedan, which police have described as a potentially critical clue. Her first thoughts were about how long the police had had this information, where did they get it from, and whether there had been camera coverage.
Kaylee Goncalves’ mother told NBC’s show that she learned of the Dec. 7 plea for information about the occupants of a Hyundai sedan from news articles. The car, believed to be a 2011-2013 Elantra, was seen in the vicinity of the three-story, six-bedroom home where the students were discovered dead on Nov. 13, according to Moscow police.
Investigators believe the vehicle’s occupant could have critical information about this case, a press release stated. It urged people to open up whether anyone believes the information is significant or not, as it could be the missing piece that would help investigators solve the murders. Sleuths and investigating fans are providing tips.
The agonized mother’s comments come as tensions between investigators, families, and the public continues to rise due to a lack of progress. In the absence of significant updates, conspiracy theories have exploded, raising fears that the murders could become America’s next cold case.
