Credit Instagram / Moscow PD. Police believe the occupant(s) of the white vehicle may have critical information regarding this case,” police said in a press release Wednesday regarding the November deaths of Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Maddie Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and 20-year-old Ethan Chapin

Idaho cops will investigate the hands of four University of Idaho students who were murdered in their sleep last month as they continue to hunt for the perpetrator, reports say. Coroner Cathy Mabbutt revealed on Monday that investigators placed each of the victims’ hands in forensic bags before removing their bodies from the gruesome crime scene in Moscow, Idaho, last month.

Authorities believe the victims’ hands may have contained evidence such as skin or hair under their fingernails if they attempted to fight back against the unknown murderer who stabbed them to death in the early morning on November 13.

If Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin made physical contact with their attackers during the attack, forensic experts told FOX News Digital on Monday that they may have even touched their attackers’ DNA.

When there is an up-close attack like this, the victim is likely to have scraped at the assailant’s face or arms to defend themselves, said Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. DNA expert Matthew Gamette, director of the Idaho State Police Forensic Services Laboratory Systems, added that testing any evidence gathered would most likely take weeks.

Internet sleuths and fans who investigate criminal cases are pointing to a new video from a police stop near the victims’ off-campus home in Moscow. Plainclothes police officers made an unrelated stop in the zone for students suspected of underage drinking just minutes before the students were killed according to the police. One officer’s bodycam captured the incident, and several people could be seen moving quickly past police on Taylor Avenue. It was just two houses after the crime scene.

True crime vlogger Olivia Vitale, who highlighted the video, said it was critical that police find potential witnesses who could shed new light on the case. There are about a half-dozen people between the people with law enforcement and those seen in the background of the bodycam footage, Vitale reported. There was a possibility that they may have witnessed something unknown to them.

The video comes as the Moscow Police Department asked for tips after no arrests in a month, while also warning that they were cracking down on internet sleuths who spread misinformation.
