James Mattis Syria military – CWEB.com

Defense Secretary James Mattis said on Monday that the US cruise-missile strike against a Syrian air base destroyed 20 percent of the military’s aircraft.   Syrian military admitted significant material damage.  Russian defense ministry said only six Syrian Air Force MiG-23s, plus a number of buildings, were destroyed.

Defense Secretary James Mattis statement on Syria strikes: “The Syrian government would be ill-advised ever again to use chemical weapons.”

President Trump has not only significantly degraded the military effectiveness of the Assad Regime, but he has also put Russia in a severely uncomfortable diplomatic position. It is from this position of strength that the US can begin to work with its allies in the region to stabilize Syria and eliminate ISIS. Furthermore, President Trump has signaled to China that the US is prepared to take military action to prevent North Korea from acquiring nuclear arms and destabilizing East Asia. In geopolitics, nothing happens in a vacuum.
