Buckingham Palace has been releasing official photos of the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey, London. They include solo portraits of the King and the Queen in royal regalia as well a portrait of them together and photos with the royal family. One recent photo shows the King seated in the Throne Room in the palace wearing full regalia. What is historic about this photo is that both his heirs Prince William and Prince George stand on both sides. This is the first ever photo of a king and two future kings.

King Charles III, 74, is seated on his throne in the Throne Room in Buckingham Palace. The 1902 throne chairs (a pair) were made for future King George V and Queen Mary during the coronation of King Edward VII. King Charles III was seated in one of the pairs for the historic portrait.

Prince William, 40, stands on one side of the throne. He is wearing ceremonial robes. Prince George, 9, is standing on the other side of the throne. He is wearing his page boy uniform that he wore during the coronation. The photo is a classic one featuring grandfather, father and son.
Photographer Hugo Burnand told PEOPLE magazine that it was a historic photo. He said that his research had not brought up any picture showing the line of succession in the throne room, dressed in royal regalia.

The late queen, beloved Queen Elizabeth II has been seen in a photo with three of them, Charles who was the Prince of Wales at that point on time as well as the future heir, Prince William was the second-in-line for the throne and was the Duke of Cambridge, and Prince George was the third-in-line. Although the portrait was taken in The Throne Room at Buckingham Palace by photographer Ranald Mackechnie, none of the royal family were wearing royal regalia.
