Celebrity actor Will Smith has won yet another award for his role in King Richard. The popular actor picked a Best Actor award at the BET Awards, on Sunday. The new award comes after his infamous incident at the Oscars this year. The actor slapped celebrity comedian Chris Rock for joking about the hairstyle of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes loss of hair. Will Smith didn’t attend in the BET Awards ceremony, in person.
Will Smith, known for his acting prowess since his appearance as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, won the award despite fierce competition from the following celebrity stars in the same category:

The 53-year old celebrity has won several awards for his role in the sports drama King Richard. He plays the role of the father of tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams. His performance has fetched him the following awards:
a BAFTA Award,
a Golden Globe
a NACCP Image Award
a SAG Award
a Critics Choice Award and
an Oscar Award.
Despite all the acclaim, Will Smith also gained a lot of notoriety as he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, on March 27, 2022. The incident didn’t spiral out of control as Chris Rock managed to remain calm and didn’t escalate the situation.
Later, Will Smith resigned from the Academy. He has been banned from attending any awards function conducted by them for the next ten years.
Will Smith publicly apologized to Chris Rock and admitted that he “was out of line” and “wrong.” He also acknowledged that he had deprived other Oscar nominees an opportunity to celebrate their wins.
Chris Rock has joked about the incident but has not as yet talked about it in length. Jada Pinkett Smith said that her hope was that the two intelligent men (Will Smith and Chris Rock) “would heal, talk this out and reconcile.” Will Smith won a BET award almost three months after the Oscar incident.
