Tragically, Kobe and their daughter Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. After discovering that the initial responders to the chopper crash took unapproved pictures of the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and seven others, Vanessa Bryant filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles County.
Vanessa Bryant received $28.9 million to resolve all outstanding claims related to images of the Kobe crash site. Kobe Bryant’s family and Los Angeles County have settled a lawsuit containing images from the scene of the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven other people for several million dollars.
In August of last year, a federal jury awarded $15 million in damages to Vanessa Bryant for the emotional suffering the images caused her.
