Kruger Park Safari

Choosing a Kruger Park Safari Has Never Been Easier

When it comes to safaris, there’s little to beat the know-how and expertise of Kruger Park Travel wildlife packages. They’ve been in the business for years and have made an art-form of streamlining safaris to suit all client wishes and financial constraints. Whether you wish to sleep under the stars or be pampered in a five-star luxury lodge, get up-close-and-personal on a walking safari or view game from the safety of a four-wheel drive open-air vehicle, Kruger Park Travel has the itinerary to suit your tastes.

For the bold and the brave

There are two safaris which probably come under the heading of the bold and the brave. These are Kruger Park Travel’s Big Five Walking Safari or their Camping Safari.

The three to five-day walking safari finds eight guests sleeping in four serviced bush camp tents with two outdoor bathrooms offering hot-water showers and flush toilets. Safari-goers follow in the footsteps of Trail Rangers as they track big game, learn about the flora of the region, interpret the sounds and the smells of the wildlife, and exchange memorable moments around the evening campfire. There are three camps set up in the Greater Kruger National Park from which these specialised walking safaris take place. Guests are served three meals every day and also enjoy game drives in open safari vehicles.

A three-day Kruger National Park camping safari is another popular choice, particularly for those on a more modest budget. Spend two nights in comfortable tented accommodation with shared bathroom facilities. Apart from your guided safari excursions, you can sit back and relax as you watch wildlife roam the savanna right outside your doorstep. This safari includes two morning and two sunset safari drives, as well as brunch, afternoon snacks and evening meals.

Other Kruger park safari options

Another two options are the Kruger Private Reserve Safari or the Classic Kruger Safari. The Private Reserve Safaris generally house guests in luxury lodge accommodation. The Classic Kruger Safari offers en-suite rooms at rest camp chalets. Guides take guests into the park with open jeeps.

Tented lodge safaris are somewhat more luxurious. Take Hamilton’s Tented Safari Camp as an example. Named after James Stevenson-Hamilton, the first warden of Kruger National Park, this is the ultimate in tented luxury and sure to create lifelong memories. Guests are pampered in nostalgic 19th Century splendour, complete with antique bathrooms, pith helmets, old steamer trunks and hurricane lanterns. The camp nestles between trees on the banks of the Nwatswitsonto River, offering splendid views across the African landscape. It is not uncommon to view one of the Big Five from this elegant campsite.

Apart from these safari options, wildlife-lovers can also select a “combo” safari, taking in the best of both worlds — the wild African landscape with its many diverse mammals, reptiles and birdlife, as well as Southern African tourist meccas such as Swaziland, the Victoria Falls, Cape Town, the Garden Route and Sun City.
