Lachlan Murdoch Fox Corp Chief Welcomes Donald Trump As A Possible News Rival

Lachlan Murdoch, CEO of Fox News, said that he is looking forward to new rivals in the news and media segment including the possibility of Donald Trump, who has hinted about it, quite a few times.

“We love competition,” Murdoch said when questioned by an analyst, during the company’s quarterly earnings call, about Trump’s future plans. He added, “We have always thrived with competition, the only difference today versus some years ago is as our audience has grown and our reach has grown, we see our competition as no longer only cable news providers but also as the traditional broadcast networks. Murdoch also said that Fox News has remained No.1 in TV news through multiple administrations, despite the vagaries of the news cycle.

President Trump is facing a strong challenge from Democrat Biden in this presidential election. He has mentioned  his ambitions of starting a news channel that would rival Fox. He has spoken of this several times, terming it as a response to CNN’s “fake news” coverage.

President Trump had risen to power with help from Lachlan Murdoch’s father, Rupert. He also got a lot of help from Sean Hannity, a popular Fox opinion host. However, Trump has also had differences in opinion with the Fox network.
