After the phone call during their trial was leaked, Alex Murdaugh’s attorney claimed he was “mad as hell.” Griffin talks with Murdaugh discussing his upcoming trial for the murders of his wife Maggie, 52, and their son Paul, 22. The jailhouse audio of now convicted double murderer Alex Murdaugh chatting with a member of his defense team was made public.
Following the incident, a social media user tweeted a clip of the call and questioned if client-attorney confidentiality required that it be kept private.
It appears that the conversation was recorded at some point during Murdaugh’s recent Colleton County, South Carolina time behind bars in the custody of the state of South Carolina, during the trial in the shooting murders of his wife and son Paul.

On the leaked call, Murdaugh can be heard stating, “Please don’t think I’m being critical because I’m not, I don’t think you could have done a better job with him.” he said from inside the Colleton County Jail. ” But I do believe that’s something to consider because that’s one thing that seems to me to be a huge concern and that, I don’t know that the jury understands that at this time,” Murdaugh continues. Who he is referring to is unknown.
