Cloud9 went the distance before subduing Counter Logic Gaming in five maps in playoff action at the League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split on Sunday.

The win keeps Cloud9 in the upper bracket, and their next match will be against the top team in Summer Split qualifying, Evil Geniuses, who received a bye into the semifinals. That battle is set for Aug. 28.

Counter Logic Gaming drops into the lower bracket in the double-elimination format and will take on the Golden Guardians on Friday. The Guardians begin the playoffs in the lower bracket because they snagged the last playoff spot in qualifying.

Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming alternated map wins in Sunday’s match, with the winner of each map playing on blue. It started when Cloud9 won the first map in 33 minutes, and Counter Logic Gaming took the next one in 44 minutes.

Cloud9 scored the next win in 33 minutes, only to see Counter Logic Gaming square the match with a win in 32 minutes. In the clincher, Cloud9 proved victorious in 37 minutes.

Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol of South Korea led Cloud9 in kills with 24, while Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen of Denmark had the team’s top kills/deaths/assists ratio of 4.8. For Counter Logic Gaming, Niship “Dhokla” Doshi of the U.S. recorded 22 kills, and Fatih “Luger” Guven of Turkey finished with a ratio of 4.4.

The playoffs resume on Thursday when FlyQuest, qualified sixth and lost its opening match on Saturday, will battle TSM, which qualified seventh and begins in the lower bracket.
