LOL News: Cloud9, CLG improve to 2-0 at LCS Spring Split

Cloud9 was one of four teams to improve to 2-0 while defending champion Evil Geniuses lost on Friday at the League Championship Series (LCS) Spring Split.

Counter Logic Gaming, FlyQuest and TSM also joined Cloud9 atop the standings at 2-0.

All 10 teams in the top North American League of Legends circuit were in action on Day 2 of group-stage play.

Each LCS team will play every other team twice through March 17. The first- through fourth-place teams will then head to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The fifth- and sixth-place teams will enter the playoffs in the lower bracket.

The winner and runner-up in the playoff final will earn berths in the Mid-Season Invitational along with other teams from LoL leagues worldwide. The LCS Spring Split carries a $200,000 prize pool, with the champion earning $100,000.

Cloud9, playing on red, defeated the Golden Guardians. TSM knocked off Team Liquid, also on red. CLG defeated Evil Geniuses in 44 minutes on blue.

In other action Friday, 100 Thieves defeated Immortals on blue and FlyQuest was a winner over Dignitas, also on blue.

Week 2 begins Thursday with five matches:
