A daycare provider from Maryland was detained after it was claimed that she recorded a video of herself kicking and yanking a child at an Oxon Hill facility, according to police. Police have identified the lady as Kayla Greenwell, 23, who is seen in the video moving a youngster with her foot.
The footage shows the child being pulled by the arm and dropped upon a mattress, and the mattress is kicked, causing the child to fall off. In another video, the daycare provider appears to lift the child by holding the child’s shirt and placing the child on a mattress.

According to a news statement from the Prince George’s County Police Department, the footage was shot on Wednesday. Fox 5 DC was the first to report the news after acquiring a copy of the footage. The police said that the outlet had not aired the news immediately but had notified the Media Relations Division. This enabled the PGPD to launch the investigation and quickly make the arrest.

Multiple counts of child abuse and assault were brought against Greenwell, a resident of Oxon Hill, which is about 50 miles outside Baltimore, according to the authorities. The Department of Corrections has kept her in custody. There was no information on the attorney. According to the police, Greenwell started working at the center in late March.
According to the Office on Child Abuse and Neglect, less than 1% of cases pertaining to child abuse and childcare neglect get reported. This totals to about 5,321 abuse or neglect cases in daycare centers in 39 states. A report by a Texas daycare abuse lawyer reveals that in daycare facilities, around half of all occurrences of child abuse entail neglect.
