Seattle Mariners first baseman/designated hitter Carlos Santana was reinstated from the restricted list prior to Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas.

The Mariners optioned infielder Kevin Padlo to Triple-A Tacoma following Friday’s 8-3 victory over the Rangers.

Santana, 36, was placed on the list Friday due to a family emergency.

He is batting .245 with three homers, six RBIs and 10 runs in 15 games this season with Seattle. He was acquired by the Mariners along with cash considerations from the Kansas City Royals on June 27 in exchange for right-handers Wyatt Mills and William Fleming.

Santana is a career .244 hitter with 266 homers and 892 RBIs in 1,720 career games with the Cleveland Indians (2010-17, 2019-20), Philadelphia Phillies (2018), Royals and Mariners. He made the American League All-Star team in 2019.

Padlo, who turned 26 on Friday, did not play for Seattle in Friday’s game. He is batting .221 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 29 games with Tacoma.
