Jeimer Candelario homered and drove in three runs as the visiting Detroit Tigers extended their winning streak to a season-best six straight with a 7-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday.

Luis Robert homered among his two hits for Chicago, which has lost four of five overall and eight of 10 at home. Jose Abreu went 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.

Trailing 7-5 in the ninth, the White Sox had runners at the corners with one out, but Michael Fulmer struck out Robert and retired Abreu on a fly ball to deep right field for his second save.

Detroit starter Tarik Skubal (6-7) allowed two runs on six hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over six innings.

Robert gave Chicago an early lead with a two-run homer in the first inning. The 449-foot blast was Robert’s 10th of the season and second in his last three games.

Detroit managed just one hit in the first five innings against Lucas Giolito (5-5) before tying the game in the sixth on Candelario’s two-run homer.

After recording two quick outs to begin the seventh, Giolito gave up a single to Jonathan Schoop and walked Spencer Torkelson. Candelario then broke the tie with an RBI single to right field.

The Tigers added to their lead against Joe Kelly, who replaced Giolito and allowed Willi Castro’s run-scoring single. Kelly then walked Riley Greene to load the bases before Javier Baez delivered a two-run double into the left-field corner.

Giolito yielded five runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out eight.

Detroit moved ahead 7-2 with two outs in the eighth against Matt Foster when Robert misplayed Torkelson’s fly ball to center, allowing Eric Haase to score from first base.

Chicago battled back with three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Eloy Jimenez singled in a run with two outs against Jason Foley, who was replaced by Tyler Alexander.

Gavin Sheets and Seby Zavala followed with run-scoring singles before pinch-hitter Andrew Vaughn struck out with runners at the corners to end the inning.

Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, ending his hitting streak at 13 games.
