Microsoft (MSFT) is increasing its AI operations with new AI-generated visuals. On Tuesday, the tech giant said that its search slide–Microsoft Bing and Edge have a new tool that helps turn text to images. It will use OpenAI’s DALL-E to create images that are prompted by text. This generative image creation feature is the newest addition to capabilities that are powered by artificial intelligence and will be available in preview.
In a press release, Microsoft said “Create images with your words” and also announced that the Bing Image Crestor has come to the new Bing. It also declared that users would now have the option of generating written and visual content at the same place, that was within chat.
Microsoft said that its Bing Image Creator would be fully integrated with chat, after its rollout in the search engine’s “Creative Mode.” It will also be featured on the tool bar of Microsoft Edge.
A user had to type in a description of the image. Additional details such as location or activity could be provided. The user could also provide a style and AI would generate an image that is created with the help of the user’s imagination.

The company said that it would use “a phased approach” to roll out this feature with select users who would preview the feature, following which there would be a general rollout. Microsoft noted that Bing’s new capabilities had been used in both expected and unexpected ways in past releases so the company would start with a preview before expanding the use of the feature.
Microsoft has also added Stories and Knowledge Cards 2.0 for all Bing users. This search feature would make experiences more engaging as it would help users interact with content, offer images and short videos to them. Knowledge Cards would help help Bing users with an “infographic-inspired experience” that was powered by AI.
Microsoft said that that all these new features have been developed to make Binge and Edge experiences more immersive, more interesting as well as useful and fun.
