Rain Can’t Dampen A Parade Up the Leaderboard at The Masters’ First Round Golf Tournament

Author: Wikipemedia-Jim Epler

There was a three-hour delay during the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club due to a downpour in the morning, which created puddles.

When play resumed, competitive golfers took full advantage of a receptive golf course, with a light wind blowing across and a sunny sky and warm temperatures. Out in the course players attacked hole locations. They chased birdies and kept climbing up the leaderboard.

Each of the top golf pros and champions responded in different ways. After an opening 68, defending champion Tiger Woods said, “I missed everything on the high side. Putts just aren’t moving, so it’s just different with as slow as they are and then with the weather delay, the amount of rain they’ve had.”

Australian Jason Day said, “It’s not that intimidating right now because of how slow the greens were playing out there. Obviously, I know that the greens will speed up over the weekend, but, yeah, that was a little bit disappointing.”

As the sun set, the Sub Air system made a loud noise as it sucked moisture out of the ground. As the forecast is for sunny sky, players know that the course will keep drying out and the challenges will become stiffer as the week progresses and the dampness disappears.
