Pepper X is a very spicy pepper variety, and it is often claimed to be even spicier than its predecessor, the Carolina Reaper. While there isn’t an official standardized scale for measuring spiciness, the heat of peppers is often measured using the Scoville Heat Scale, which quantifies the amount of capsaicin, the compound responsible for the spicy sensation.

The Carolina Reaper holds the Guinness World Record for being the world’s hottest chili pepper, with an average Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of around 1,641,183 SHU, but it can reach even higher levels.

Ed Currie, the owner of the Puckerbutt Pepper Company in South Carolina, cultivates Pepper X. The Carolina Reaper, which broke the record in 2013, was also a creation of his.

On his farm, Ed raised Pepper X for almost ten years, breeding it with some of his hottest peppers to boost its capsaicin concentration, according to information on the Guinness website.

If Pepper X is claimed to be three times spicier than the Carolina Reaper, it would have an average SHU rating significantly higher than the Carolina Reaper, potentially exceeding 4 million SHU or more. Please note that these values can vary depending on the specific pepper and growing conditions, so it’s essential to take such claims with a grain of caution. Spiciness can be very subjective, and individual tolerance varies widely.
