The Ultra5 is a right-sized, on-demand box machine that Packsize ®, the industry pioneer in sustainable, Right-Sized Packaging On Demand ®, revealed today. It is based on the just-announced X5 technology. The Ultra5 was made specifically for Walmart and is already in use in a number of fulfillment centers (FCs), including the first of the retailer’s upcoming FCs.

The Ultra5 has the greatest packaging throughput in its class in the industry and, like Packsize’s X5 machine, can create up to 600 boxes per hour while generating less waste and emissions. The Packsize solution lessens packing waste from oversized boxes, does away with void fillers like plastic air pillows, lowers shipping emissions, and enhances the unboxing experience for the end user. The technology reduces the cost and environmental effect of extraneous and unnecessary corrugated boxes by right-sizing them. Additionally, it enhances parcel logistics, allowing merchants to load up to 33% more boxes onto freight and delivery vehicles, increasing the number of orders that can be delivered to customers each day.

According to Prathibha Rajashekhar, senior vice president, innovation & automation, Walmart U.S., “we created an innovative packaging solution by working with Packsize to develop the Ultra5 machine. This machine tailors each box to the items we are shipping to customers, eliminating unnecessary waste and improving the unboxing experience once the package arrives. “The Ultra5 solution is a win for our customers, the company, and our planet,” the company said in keeping with its commitment to becoming a regenerative one.

The Ultra5 is an amazing e-commerce asset for Walmart’s fulfillment network in addition to its environmental advantages. Faster throughput is made possible by its industry-leading speeds, which enable orders to be packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipping in as little as 30 minutes. The innovative “Flaps Down” function of the Ultra5 enables boxes to move through the packaging process without interruption by securing the flaps to the sides of the box with a paper band.

Rod Gallaway, CEO of Packsize, said that Walmart’s fulfillment network and the inclusion of 4 next-generation FCs are not only a game-changer but also a testament to the constantly changing environment of e-commerce. “They have made a bold effort to streamline their delivery processes by embracing cutting-edge and cutting-edge technology, like our Ultra5 machine. Packsize is honored to partner with Walmart to advance customer convenience, fulfillment of online orders, and customer happiness.
