Victims’ families mourn deaths at Travis Scott’s Astroworld, one injured person sues Travis and Drake

One person, who attended the Travis Scott’s Astroworld musical festival on Saturday November 6, has sued the rapper, Drake, organizers Live Nation Entertainment Inc. as well as Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation for negligence. Kristian Paredes from Austin, Texas filed a suit on Sunday.

The lawsuit was obtained by the Daily Mail. It stated that Drake joined Travis Scott on stage as a special guest. Both the rappers helped incite the crowd. The 23-year old Texan accused Drake of continuing to perform with Travis Scott although the crowd got “out of control” and there was “mayhem.”

He also said that he was at the front of the admission section for the general public. There was only a metal barrier that separated him from the VIP section. He said that he had felt an “immediate push” after the countdown to Travis Scott’s performance ended and he was on stage around 9 p.m.

The filing also stated the crowd became chaotic. There was a stampede and eight were left dead while scores, including Paredes, were severely injured. It said that many people were pleading with the security guards, who had been hired by Live Nation Entertainment, for help but their pleas were ignored.

The 23-year old also said that the injuries and deaths were a result of “negligence, carelessness and recklessness” of the “defendants, their agents, servants and employees” all of whom contributed to the incident.

Paredes said that he faced body injuries. He is seeking compensation of over a million dollars for medical expenses and injuries that he claimed were permanent. Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry is representing Paredes. They are seeking a trial by jury.

On the other side of this horrific incident, eight families are slowly trying to come to terms with the loss of their young family members aged between 14 and 27. They are shell shocked and grief stricken as they share their feelings with different news outlets. They speak of how much the loved ones they lost were huge fans of the rapper Travis Scott. They find it difficult to accept that Astroworld, a show that their family members attended with so much happiness, turned into such a tragic event for them.
