It was reported that Volvo plans to phase out the conventional car engine, with all new Volvo models from 2019 to be either fully electric or a hybrid.
Volvo, now a Chinese-owned company, will start converting to hybrid and all electric automobiles over the next few years. Remember that today China gets a great deal of its electricity from coal-fired generating stations and hydroelectric project.
The coal-fired generating stations in China have traditionally lacked the anti-pollution features present at US facilities, thereby contributing a significantly larger load of air pollutants and also have a pretty large “carbon footprint.”
