Walmart (WMT) Health opened its first community health center in Dallas, Georgia in 2019. It has been expanding its presence across the nation, since. The big box retailer entered the healthcare space to provide communities with affordable healthcare. As it also prioritized the needs of its communities, Walmart Health has become a major provider of healthcare services across the nation.
Walmart has launched more than 25 centers in states and cities including the following:
Georgia
Illinois
Arkansas and
Florida.
Earlier in March, Walmart announced that it would be expanding its reach to two new states: Missouri and Arizona. It will also increase the number of its community health centers in Texas and other states. The company plans to have over 75 community centers across the U.S. by the end of next year.
Customers can use most major and commercial insurance at Walmart Healthcare centers. However, if a patient is uninsured or is in a network that is not included in Walmart’s services, the patient can also pay out-of-pocket as the centers offer reasonable prices.
Walmart Health also offers virtual discounted urgent care for members of UnitedHealthcare. In October 2020, the giant retailer also launched a service for people to purchase Medicare insurance plans. The company is called Walmart Insurance Services LLC.
