According to WTHR, Shane Osborne is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. The show identified Osborne as the boy’s father.

Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley expressed his “mortification” about the incident in a statement to WTHR.

“As with all of you, I’m mortified and what took place and I’m so thankful that no one was hurt, especially the young child. I appreciate the Beech Grove Police Department’s quick action in securing the small child and the gun in question.”

A video from a neighbor’s security camera that aired on “On Patrol: Live” shows a young boy waving a handgun back and forth and pulling the trigger in the entryway of an apartment complex.

“You can’t, you can’t unsee that video,” Nicole Summers, a neighbor, said. “He just kept going, ‘pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow.'” Summers dialed 911 and summoned police to the Beech Meadow apartments on Saturday evening. Sleuths and criminology  fans  are paying close attention to the case.

The little boy, she claimed, came to their door and pointed the pistol at her son. Then she noticed the gun.

“My son opened the door, then shut it and backed away, and he was like, ‘Uh…baby with a gun. ‘Get out, get out, get out!’ I then peered through the peephole. He [the child] was standing in the middle of the hallway, holding it behind his back, and I thought…like that’s a real gun.

Dennis Buckley, Mayor of Beech Grove, issued the following statement on Monday:

“Soon after the incident, I received notification from our Police Chief.

As with all of you, I’m horrified by what happened and grateful that no one was hurt, especially the young child.

I appreciate the Beech Grove Police Department’s quick action in securing the small child and the gun in question.

I request that the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office work tirelessly to secure charges and convictions against the responsible parties, with the harshest penalties possible. Anything less should not be tolerated by society.”
