Celebrity NBA legend Dennis Rodman recently claimed that Houston rapper Travis Scott had copied his design of the backward swoosh in the pair of Air Jordan 1’s that were designed by Scott. The legend made the comment at a recent shoe convention, when he spoke to a few of his fans as he was talking about his background in the sneaker world, almost two decades ago.
In a video with fans, Dennis Rodman, a.k.a. “The Worm” claimed that Nike Air Darwin was the first model of sneakers that carried his backward swoosh logo. He held up a pair of “Mocha” Travis Scott 1’s and spoke to the camera.

He said, “Travis Scott has copied my shoe. I was the first guy to do mine backward when I was playing with the Chicago Bulls. Come on Travis, give me some credit. You copied my sh*t. This ain’t new but either way, congratulations.”

In 1994, when the NBA legend was at the end of his football career with the San Antonia Spurs, the giant sneaker company launched the Nike Air Darwin. It was a hi-top shoe with perforated leather on its upper, and was made with a ballistic mesh to make a breathable model.
The Nike logo was on the heel, in a reverse swoosh, just as it was said by the NBA legend in the video. The Nike Air Darwin was considered to be a state-of-the-art model at that period of time.
Rapper Travis Scott’s sneaker model of Air Jordan 1 was launched in 2019. It has a chocolate and beige color combination. It also has an enlarged backward logo.

Neither Travis Scott nor his representatives have acknowledged the video, nor have they commented on the claim made by the former All-Star power forward Dennis Rodman. Nike has also not commented on the video or the claim, as yet.
