Watch: Keenan Anderson, the cousin of a Black Lives Matter co-founder dies after police brutality in traffic stop

LAPD you Tube

Keenan Anderson, the cousin of a Patrisse Cullors who is the Black Lives Matter co-founder dies by police brutality in traffic stop. Hours before the Black teacher died in the hospital, body-camera footage from Los Angeles police officers showed a cop tasing him six times as he begged for his life.

A traffic accident was reported to the police at the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard in Los Angeles on January 3rd at about 3:35 p.m. Body camera video shows the officer on the bike approaching Anderson, who was racing through the roadway and “exhibiting unusual conduct,” according to the police.

Several officers were shown holding Keenan Anderson down while tasing him in the video, which was captured from the body cams of officers responding to a traffic accident and published on Wednesday. Anderson, 31, kept yelling, “They’re trying to George Floyd me!” while being detained. While being surrounded by at least eight police officers, he also said, “Help, they’re trying to kill me.”

Turn over or I’m going to tase you, another policeman repeated while one officer appeared to press his elbow into Anderson’s neck in video from a second body camera. They’re attempting to George Floyd me, Anderson retorted. They’re attempting to Floyd me, George!

Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said Anderson “committed a felony hit and run when caused a traffic collision and then attempted to flee from the location.” The person who took the video “depicts Mr. Anderson attempting to get into another person’s car without their permission.” However, the video does show that Anderson was complying when he was asked to Get on the sidewalk so his hands could be cuffed. Anderson said to the police officer, “Somebody’s trying to kill me” and said, “I didn’t mean to, please sir, I didn’t mean to.”

The video showed Anderson kneeling on the ground with his hands behind his head as the officer radioed for assistance and stated that there may have been a collision with a suspected drunk motorist. Anderson admitted to the policeman that he misplaced the BMW key. After a brief delay in the video, LAPD reports that Anderson made an effort to flee seven minutes later. He was seen in the video urging the officer, “I want everyone to see me,” as he approached the roadway with his hands raised.

Later, paramedics arrived at the scene and took Anderson to the hospital. Anderson did not respond to life saving efforts by medical staff and was pronounced deceased, police said in a media release. Police also said initial toxicology tests showed that he had cocaine metabolite and cannabinoids in his system.

In a press conference in front of LAPD, Carl E. Douglas, the lawyer representing Anderson’s family, said police’s use-of-force was “excessive” and that Anderson’s “heart could not withstand that trauma.”
