His Majesty King Charles III delivered his Christmas address to Great Britain and other countries. The tradition of the Christmas address to the nation and the commonwealth was first delivered by King George V, in 1932. It has become an important tradition for Great Britain as well as other nations in the commonwealth.

King Charles began his address by saying that he was standing in the historic St. George’s Chapel, at Windsor Castle, which he described as exquisite. There was a Christmas tree in the background that had decorations made with sustainable materials.

He poignantly said that it was close to the place where his beloved parents have been laid to rest. He acknowledged with gratitude the deep love and sympathy that people had sent to him and his family after the recent death of the beloved Queen.

He spoke of how Christmas was a time to spend with families and how the beloved ones who have left their families are missed most poignantly during this time of year. He mentioned the qualities of his beloved mother the Queen and her faith in God and in people. He also noted that each person had the quality of goodness and compassion to touched the lives of others and “to shine a light in the world around them.”

He reflected on the difficulties people are facing in these high inflation times and mentioned the “great anxiety and hardship” that those who struggled to “pay their bills and keep their families fed and warm” were facing.

He praised the selfless dedication of the armed forces and emergency services, health and social care professionals, teachers and all those who work in public service. He paid a tribute who “respond to the plight of others” by donating food and other resources including their time. He mentioned charitable organizations, churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, gurudwaras and pictures of army personnel, emergency workers, charities distributing food and volunteers helping in distribution of food were shown in the background. Fans are super excited.

He spoke of a personal visit to Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity and said that he was touched to be in the place where the power of light touched the world. He spoke of hope for the future.

He wished everyone a Christmas of “peace, happiness, and everlasting light.” The broadcast ended with a Christmas carol and photos of the King meeting some of his subjects. The Prince and Princess of Wales: William and Catherine were also seen mingling with children. The choir sang “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”

King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and other senior royals are spending Christmas in Sandringham, Norfolk. Earlier in the day, he attended the traditional Christmas Day service, his first time as the sovereign of the nation.
