From its inception in 1828 to 1994, the House of Guerlain was owned and managed by members of the Guerlain family. Louis Vuitton, part of the LVMH group, purchased it in 1994.

Henri Matisse, the quintessential “painter of happiness” and a sublime master of color, was one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists. Guerlain is collaborating with Maison Matisse, which was founded by one of the painter’s great-grandsons, Jean-Matthieu Matisse, to celebrate the art of happiness with an exceptional piece and precious limited-edition series inspired by Matisse’s palette.

Each Exceptional Piece by Guerlain x Maison Matisse is the result of unparalleled savoir-faire, entirely hand-painted with the utmost care. Countless hours were spent selecting the six colors that were closest to Matisse’s “La Musique” palette, then refining their mattness and depth.
