The northern California court disclosed surveillance and bodycam video of Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, inside their San Francisco home in October 2022 when an intruder attacked him.
The video captures the mayhem of the attack on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband by suspected assailant David DePape.
It can be heard on the video cam what was said when police opened the door. “Drop the hammer,” the officer says. “Uh, nope,” DePape responds. Immediately DePape strikes Paul Pelosi with a hammer, and he falls to the floor. Police struggle with him and cuff DePape. An ambulance was called to the home to take Paul Pelosi to the hospital where he suffered critical injuries. Pelosi had to have surgery to repair a skull fracture and he incurred serious injuries to his hand and arm.
It was reported that DePape was intentionally looking for Nancy Pelosi, but she was not home. DePape was breaking windowsand gained access to the home.

Court documents said Paul Pelosi called 911 while DePape was in the home and on home surveillance video and said someone is here saying they want to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage. If he had not called 911 at the time the situation could have been deadly.
According to court filings, DePape allegedly woke Paul Pelosi just after 2 a.m., wielding a huge hammer and many white zip ties, and demanding, “Where’s Nancy? “Where has Nancy ?”
Lawyers for DePape argued that making the audio and video public would “irreparably harm” his right to a fair trial. DePape has pleaded not guilty to a slew of state and federal charges, including assault and attempted murder, in connection with the incident.
