Lanky Estonian 7-footer Henri Veesaar committed to Arizona and head coach Tommy Lloyd on Wednesday, the 18-year-old told ESPN.

Veesaar was a member of Estonia’s national team at 17 and played for Real Madrid at the U16 level.

The NBA-minded Veesaar could help the Wildcats recover from losing Bennedict Mathurin, Dalen Terry and Christian Koloko to the draft. All three are expected to remain in the 2022 NBA Draft but can opt to return until the June 1 deadline.

“I believe in [coach] Tommy Lloyd’s philosophy and how he coaches,” Veesaar said in an ESPN interview. “I’ve had my eyes on playing college basketball for some time now, and I believe that Arizona is a great fit to make a jump between youth and professional sport.”

Veesaar is expected to be on campus in early August and join Arizona’s basketball workouts after playing for Estonia this summer.

He’s one of eight international players listed on Arizona’s 2022-23 roster and said “it helps to fit on the team not being the only foreigner.”
