Australian Nick Kyrgios bounced second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday at the ATP 500 Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, Germany.

With the win, Kyrgios reached the quarterfinals, where he will meet sixth seed Pablo Carreno Busta. The Spaniard earned his way there with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 win over American Sebastian Korda.

For Kyrgios, the third set was tense until he broke Tsitsipas’ serve to take a 5-4 lead, then served out for the match. Tsitsipas lost despite 39 winners (18 aces) compared to 32 winners (nine aces) for Kyrgios.

Also advancing was World No. 1 and top seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia, who dispatched David Goffin of Belgium in a quick 6-3, 6-2 opening-round win. Next up for Medvedev in the second round is Ilya Ivashka of Belarus.

Fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada and fifth seed Hubert Hurkacz of Poland won their matches and will meet in the quarterfinals.

Cinch Championships

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain outlasted Alex de Minaur of Australia 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in London.

Serving to send the match to a tiebreaker, de Minaur was broken his only time in the third set, giving Davidovich Fokina the win.

In the quarterfinals, the Spaniard will face Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands, who defeated Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in straight sets.

Also moving on was Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori, who ousted Jack Draper of Great Britain.
