The Milwaukee Brewers pushed across two runs against Yu Darvish in the top of the seventh Wednesday afternoon to defeat the host San Diego Padres 2-1 in the rubber match of a three-game series.

Darvish (4-2) was working on a one-hit shutout when he walked Luis Urias to open the seventh. After Christian Yelich flew out to center, Andrew McCutchen singled and Rowdy Tellez followed with an opposite-field double to left that scored Urias to tie the game.

Tyrone Taylor then hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track, easily scoring McCutchen to break the tie. It was the sixth RBI of the series for Taylor, who has 18 RBIs all season.

The Padres, who left runners in scoring position in the second and third innings, took a 1-0 lead against Brewers starter Aaron Ashby in the fifth.

Austin Nola drew a walk to open the inning. He moved to second on a one-out single by Jake Cronenworth, reached third when Brewers third baseman Jace Peterson couldn’t handle Manny Machado’s grounder and scored when Jurickson Profar grounded into a forceout.

Ashby, the nephew of former Padre Andy Ashby, gave up one unearned run on four hits and three walks, with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

The win went to right-hander Luis Perdomo (1-0), who allowed one hit in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Brad Boxberger struck out the side in the eighth. Devin Williams picked up his second save in as many nights and his fourth on the season in the absence of regular Milwaukee closer Josh Hader, who is away from the Brewers on emergency family medical leave.

Darvish allowed the two runs on three hits and two walks, with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Darvish, who pitched a sixth quality start on the season.
