The United States’ opponents in the 2024 Copa America will be Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia, a mixed bag following the draw on Thursday.

The U.S. will host the event next summer. The first game of the group stage will be on June 20 in Atlanta and the final match will be played on July 14 in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Uruguay, ranked 11th in the world by FIFA, was the toughest possible draw for the 12th-ranked U.S. team, which was one of four seeded sides in Pot 1.

The other teams in Pot 1 were reigning World Cup champion Argentina plus Brazil and Mexico.

Panama is ranked 41st in the world, while Bolivia is ranked 85th.

Copa America is the competition held between the 10 top South American sides. The 2024 edition was moved to the United States as a precursor to the U.S., Mexico and Canada co-hosting the 2026 World Cup. Six sides from CONCACAF (North America, Central America and the Caribbean) will join the South American teams next summer.

The last two CONCACAF teams in the tournament will be determined via play-in matches in March. Canada faces Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras plays Costa Rica.

The top two teams from each of the four groups advance to the quarterfinals, set for July 4-6 in Houston; Arlington, Texas; Glendale, Ariz.; and Las Vegas. The semifinals will be played July 9 in East Rutherford, N.J., and July 10 in Charlotte.

Argentina is the reigning Copa America champion, having defeated Brazil 1-0 in 2021 at Rio de Janeiro.

2024 Copa America group draw
Group A: Argentina, Peru, Chile, Canada/Trinidad and Tobago playoff winner
Group B: Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Jamaica
Group C: United States, Uruguay, Panama, Bolivia
Group D: Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Costa Rica/Honduras playoff winner
