Controversial Proud Porn Boss Larry Flynt Owner of Hustler Magazine Dead at 78

 

 

 

Larry Flynt had built one of the world’s largest porn empires, including Hustler magazine has died today of heart failure- February 10th at 78 years old. Flynt was known  be extremely  controversial about his stand on involving free speech and pornography regulation.

 

Flynt became a First Amendment crusader and activist. He was shot by a white supremacist serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin when he left court in Georgia, which left him paralyzed and in a wheelchair since 1978.

 

Flynt became popular for the opposition with the religious right and became famous when he was sued by televangelist Jerry Falwell. The case was heard in the Supreme Court.

 

The People vs. Larry Flynt, film documentary that portrayed his life and  battles with Falwell  was played by celebrity Woody Harrelson. The film was nominated for an Oscar in 1996.

 

Flynt was married five times and is survived by his wife Elizabeth, whom he married in 1998.
