Virtus.pro announced Thursday that they will not participate in the upcoming $250,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event IEM Rio after failing to qualify for the BLAST Paris Major.
Their reasoning? Well, they need the practice.
“We believe that in the current shape, participation in the tournament will not bring satisfaction to either the team or the fans,” Virtus.pro wrote on Twitter. “Therefore, we are committing to enhanced training.”

IEM Rio will begin on Monday. ESL stated its intention to announce a replacement for Virtus.pro as soon as possible.
Virtus.pro raised eyebrows while making a switch in the middle of the RMR tournament, replacing Aleksandr “KaiR0N-” Anashkin with David “n0rb3r7” Danielyan ahead the elimination series against MOUZ. The switch didn’t help Virtus.pro, who dropped a 2-0 decision to MOUZ.
