Dolly Parton vaccine shot Moderna, which she helped fund

Live Video of Dolly Parton, the country music legend has been inoculated with the Moderna vaccine, a vaccine she helped fund. The vivacious 75-year old adapted the lyrics of arguably her most popular balled “Jolene,” while taking the vaccine.

She sang: Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you, please doesn’t hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, because once you’re dead, then that’s a bit too late.

The country music star had helped fund the Moderna vaccine by donating a part of the funds used for researching the vaccine at the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She had contributed $1 million for vaccine research.

Parton is one among the celebrities who have gone public and said they have been vaccinated. Other stalwart American celebrities include Kiss rocker Paul Stanley, super model Christie Brinkley, Actress Isabella Rossellini, actress Candice Bergen, Bette Midler, Barbara Corcoran, singer Ozzy Osbourne and many other eligible ones.

Younger stars and celebrities got their shots in vaccine trials, by parking outside vaccination centers or because of co-morbidities.

Parton posted a video from Vanderbilt saying that she was excited and she had been waiting for a while. She said that she was both old enough and smart enough to get it. She said that although she was attempting to be funny she was also serious about the vaccine as it was a way to get back to normal, whatever normal is. Again she quipped by saying “And that would be a great shot in the arm, wouldn’t it, if we could get back to that?”

She also added that she wanted to encourage everybody to get vaccinated as the sooner everyone got vaccinated the quicker everyone would get back to “being normal.” She admonished the cowards out there not to be a “chicken squat” and to get their shots.

The country music star put on a mask and called the doctor, an old friend of hers, to give her the Moderna shot. The medic commended her for requesting others to get vaccinated.

He knocked an item of the table getting a giggling response from the star that teased him about his clumsiness and said that she hoped that he would do better with her shot.

After the first Moderna shot Dolly Parton commented, “That didn’t hurt.”
