Elon Musk unleashed a string of profanities against advertisers who left his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. In a summit in New York, he said that they were trying to blackmail him. He has been accused of liking a post that has been called antisemitic, and his social media platform has posts that are considered to be hate speech, but the platform says that it is an advocate of free speech.

Elon Musk appeared on stage on November 29, 2023, at the New York Times annual DealBook summit. The C.T.O. of social media platform X dismissed the actions of advertisers who left the social media platform by saying, “If somebody’s going to try to blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f*** yourself. Go. F***. Yourself. Is that clear?”

He also suggested that his web fans boycott these companies, as he said, “The whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company, and we will document it in great detail.”

He also said that he had “no problem being hated. Hate away.” Elon Musk’s account on X has more than 164 million followers.

Elon Musk also said “Hi Bob!” singling out Disney CEO Bob Iger, who was reportedly in the audience. Several giant companies in the U.S., including Disney, Apple, Warner Bros., Discovery, NBCUniversal, and others, have suspended their ad campaigns on X after Elon Musk liked a post that was antisemitic.

Elon Musk was interviewed by Andrew Ross Sorkin at the summit. Musk also expressed his negative views of unions and more including having “mixed feelings” about OpenAI founder Sam Altman. He also said that he had “trouble sleeping at night” as he considered the danger of AI harming humanity.
