Miles Kelly and Lance Terry each made seven 3-pointers, Ja’von Franklin recorded a triple-double and Georgia Tech knocked down a school-record 18 3-pointers en route to a 96-76 victory at Syracuse on Tuesday.

Kelly scored a career-high 30 points and Terry matched a season high with 24 points for the Yellow Jackets (13-17, 5-14 ACC), who have won five of their last seven games. Georgia Tech also avenged an 80-63 home defeat to Syracuse last month.

Franklin finished with 14 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Kyle Sturdivant added 20 points for the visitors, who finished 18 of 40 from downtown, including sparkling efforts by Terry (7 of 10) and Kelly (7 of 14).

Judah Mintz scored 23 points and Jesse Edwards collected 18 points, eight boards and four blocks as the Orange (16-14, 9-10) lost their fourth straight contest.

Both teams shot 57.1 percent from the field in the first half, but the difference in the 53-44 halftime margin was the Yellow Jackets’ 3-point shooting.

Georgia Tech made seven 3-pointers in the first 9 1/2 minutes and finished 10 of 22 from outside the arc in the first half. Syracuse actually shot well from long range (4 of 10) in the opening half, but on significantly fewer attempts.

The score was tied at 21-21 when the Yellow Jackets went on an 11-1 run that began and ended with 3-pointers by Kelly. The Orange got within five points with less than a minute left in the session, but Franklin scored twice in the final 30 seconds to create a nine-point game at the break.

Things quickly snowballed in the second half, as Georgia Tech converted three 3-pointers — two by Terry — as well as a dunk by Franklin, all in the first 2 1/2 minutes, to stretch the lead to 20.

Terry made another 3-pointer shortly thereafter to create a 69-46 advantage.

The lead swelled to as many as 28 before the hosts scored the final eight points to make the final score a bit more respectable.
