General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 668,000 SUVs due to a potential safety hazard. The recall across the nation was announced due to a problem in the anchors which are allowing child seats to be fixed safely. No crashes or injuries have been reported by the Detroit automaker.

On Thursday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted the recall on its website. It noted that the rear-seat lower anchor bars may have an excess of powder coating. This makes them thick and does not facilitate the installation of a child’s seat.

GM has asked owners of these SUVs to install child seats using seat belts till the company repairs the latches. Dealers will inspect the SUVs anchors and the anchors will be replaced, if necessary.

Reports say that dealers received a warning from GM on May 11. Those who have not submitted their SUVs by June 26 will receive letters from that date onwards.

Last Friday, there was another recall by the giant automaker. According to the Associated Press, the safety recall was close to a million vehicles. Models that were affected by the safety hazard included the following:
Buick Enclave
Chevrolet Traverse, and
GMC Arcadia.

Car models from 2014 to 2017 that had airbag inflators from ARC Automotive Inc., a Tennessee-based company, were part of the recall.
